KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 6
Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has stated that the constitution will be amended through consensus among political parties.
Speaking to media representatives at Biratnagar Airport today, he emphasized that discussions and agreement with political parties are essential, as a two-thirds majority is required to amend the constitution.
The NC President and former Prime Minister clarified that no loan-related agreements were signed under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's recent visit to China, expressing his appreciation to PM Oli for this decision.
Addressing the current political scenario, Deuba remarked that the public has no grievances against the coalition government. He noted that the alliance between the two largest parties has contributed to political stability and the country's progress toward prosperity.
Regarding internal party matters, he assured that the party's general convention will be held as scheduled, with the new leadership being elected democratically.
Deuba arrived in Biratnagar to participate in the party's province-level conference, set to take place tomorrow.
