Constitution will be issued by mid-August: Bhattarai

GORKHA: Former Prime Minister and UCPN-Maoist senior leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai said that the federal democratic republic constitution would be promulgated soon.

He said that the new constitution would be issued by mid-August as the preliminary draft of the constitution was sent to the public for their feedback after the endorsement from the Constituent Assembly (CA) meeting on Tuesday.

The long journey of a political course would be completed after the constitution promulgation, the UCPN-Maoist leader said at a programme orgnaised by the Association of Elderly Citizens here on Wednesday.

He also urged the commoners to provide feedbacks after reading the draft if the rights to be included in the constitution were missing.

Dr Bhattarai said that the draft of the constitution could be read in different media after the draft was published in the Nepal gazette.

On the occasion, Dr Bhattarai said that he would raise voice for increasing monthly allowance to the elderly citizens to Rs 3,000 from Rs 500.

Speaking on the intra-party feuds, Dr Bhattarai claimed that organising a separate gathering of cadres was his compulsion.

He also said that a ‘new force’ was not a new political party but it was needed to drive the nation.
