KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 3
Rajendra Mahato, president of the Rastriya Mukti Party Nepal, has opposed the government's decision to build a cable car in Mukkumlung. In his speech at Maitighar today, he stated that "building a cable car in Mukkumlung is against the Limbu culture and the sovereignty of local people."
Now that the Rastriya Mukti Party has joined the movement, do not think that the Limbus are alone. He also warned the protesters that the fraudulent act of ignoring one side while continuing to build cable cars on the other under the guise of talks must be stopped immediately.
He also clarified that operating the cable car for the government would be impossible and that his party will oppose the government's decision until the government steps down.
According to him, a small group of people who are determined to destroy identity, culture, and civilisation have spread their trap throughout the country. The protest will continue until the cable car agreement in Mukkumlung is terminated.
He emphasised that Nepal should become a multinational state to address the issue of sovereignty. He stated that the Mukkumlung problem will not be solved until everyone makes Limbu sovereign by establishing a common country for everyone, and that the police administration shot and injured people in the chest and thigh while peacefully protesting to protect Mukkumlung's cultural land.
"The Limbus are capable of developing Mukkumlung on their own. The government should halt the cable car construction plan and identify tourist areas to develop the country's tourism so that citizens can enjoy them," he said. "However, such gimmicks cannot be used to promote development in religious centres. Instead, they should work to lift the country out of poverty by implementing plans other than cable car construction for tourism."
