Construction of 1,600 houses in Morang and Sunsari for people's housing picking up pace

Pathari (Morang): Lalan Sardar of Diniya in Morang is desperately looking forward to moving into a new house under-construction as part of the government's people's housing programme.

"We are poor and cannot build a new house on our own. I am happy as the government is building houses for us," said elated Sardar.

As part of the programme, a total of 1,600 houses are being built for impoverished people in Morang and Sunsari. In Morang, 50 houses are under-construction in Aapgachhi, 40 in Dianiya, 50 in Kadamaha, 50 in Saurabhag, 50 in Hattimuda and 75 in Dyangraha.

Launched by the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction, Division Office, Morang and Sunsari, Rs 185.9 million has been set apart for the project.

A 13-member people's housing district coordination committee has also been formed under the coordination of lawmaker Amrit Aryal.

The members are lawmakers Rishikesh Pokharel, Amanlal Modi, Morang Chief District Officer, Local Development Officer and Chiefs of Survey and District Land Revenue Offices.

Chief of the Division Office, Morang Shyam Kishor Singh said the construction of the new houses is picking up the pace and would complete soon.

"Thank the government for building new houses for impoverished people like us. It means a big to us," said Mukhani Devi Sardar of Dyangraha.
