Construction works of 5 hydropower projects obstructed due to fuel crisis
LAMJUNG: Construction works of five hydropower projects have been obstructed due to lack of petroleum products following Tarai bandh for the past three months and unannounced border blockade imposed by India.
The construction works of 50-MW 'Upper Marsyangdi A' hydropower project, 3-MW 'Lower Midim Hydropower project', 28-MW 'Super Dordi hydropower project', 49-MW 'Lower Dordi hydropower project' and 25-MW 'Upper Dordi-A' hydropower project are getting disrupted due to shortage of petroleum products.
The deadline of the under construction 'Upper Marsyandi A' hydropower project, said to be completed by December 2015, has been extended for next six months.
Chief District Officer Mohan Akela said that although 10,000 litres of diesel and 5,000 litres of petrol is needed for the under construction projects every day, the district gets only 1500 litres of diesel.
