At least 16 households in Badimalika Municipality–6 of Bajura have been affected by landslides triggered by continuous rainfall, with six houses facing immediate danger and 10 others remaining at high risk.
According to the District Police Office, Bajura, a joint team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Shaileshwori Bohara and representatives of Badimalika Municipality conducted an on-site inspection on Tuesday after receiving reports of land subsidence and landslide activity in Kordh village following heavy rain on Monday night.
The inspection confirmed that six households are under severe threat after landslides occurred both above and below their homes, while 10 additional households have been identified as vulnerable to further slope failure.
Police identified the severely affected households as those belonging to Prasade Saud, Gore Saud, Ammar Saud, Bhakta Saud, Lal Saud and Khadak Saud, all residents of Badimalika–6. The households of Bal Saud, Man Saud, Shiva Baduwal, Jaya Saud, Nar Saud, Bhane Saud, Gorakh Saud, Khante Lwar and Pawan BK are among those facing moderate risk.
Information Officer at the District Police Office, Inspector Naresh Bahadur Shahi, said no human casualties or livestock losses have been reported so far.
Although the affected families have not yet been displaced, locals have urged authorities to arrange relocation and relief assistance, warning that continued rainfall could trigger additional landslides and further endanger the settlement.
Police said a field assessment report has been prepared and recommendations have been forwarded to the concerned authorities for relief and support measures.
The incident has heightened fear among local residents, with families moving household belongings to safer locations. Authorities have also warned that several other settlements across the district remain vulnerable to landslides as monsoon rains continue.
