Floods and landslides triggered by overnight rainfall have affected 16 households in Badimalika Municipality–9, Selagad, while the Sanfe–Martadi road, the district's main link to the headquarters, has been blocked at several points.
According to the District Police Office, floodwaters and debris swept into 16 houses at around 4:30 am Friday. A joint team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Shaileshwari Bohara and Armed Police Force personnel evacuated affected families and moved food grains, clothing and household belongings to safer locations.
Police Inspector Naresh Bahadur Shahi said three houses are at high risk, while 13 others remain vulnerable. A 30-year-old woman, identified as the wife of local resident Prem Thapa, lost consciousness after the landslide struck her home. She was rescued and taken to the District Hospital for treatment. No human or livestock casualties have been reported.
The disaster also damaged agricultural land in Selagad, while floodwaters washed away a 230-metre plastic pipeline and a 25-metre concrete section of the Totke Irrigation Canal in Rapka, Badimalika–8.
Meanwhile, the Sanfe–Martadi road has been blocked by landslides at multiple locations between the District Prison in Martadi and Jadanga following continuous rainfall Thursday night.
Police said clearance operations are underway using heavy equipment deployed by the Sanfebagar Road Division Office. Vehicular movement has been disrupted since Thursday night, leaving several vehicles stranded along the route.
