Cop imposter nabbed from Rautahat

RAUTAHAT: Police on Saturday said that they have apprehended a man over the allegations of faking his identity as a policeman.

The detainee has been identified as Sanjeev Thapa Magar, a permanent resident of Dandagaun, Chandrapur Municipality-8 in Rautahat.

Police said Magar had been projecting himself as an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of police, while extorting money from the vehicles along the East-west Highway, along with his two friends.

A police team deployed from the Armed Police Force Santapur Base nabbed Magar, who was extorting money prior to his arrest, during a regular check.

According to APF SP Madan Singh Bista, two other accomplices, identified as Raj Kumar Upreti and Manjeet Tamang, fled the scene. "They are under our search," he added.

Further investigation into the incident is underway, said police.
