Cops behind paper leak made public

Police investigation into the leakage of question papers during the Secondary Education Examination in Province 2 has revealed that two cops were behind the leak.

Police Constable Brahmadev Sunarait from Saptari’s Rajbiraj-10 who officiates at Siraha’s Kalyanpur Police Post was the mastermind behind the leakage.

Brahmadev, his brother Bishnudev,  another police constable Dipendra Kumar Mandal, a school teacher Manoj Yadav of Rajbiraj-16 and Rajesh Yadav and Umesh  Yadav of Hanumannagar, Kankalini Municipality were involved in the racket and were made public at a  press conference at the District Police Office today. According to Deputy Inspector General of Police at Central Bureau of Investigation Niraj Bahadur Shahi, the men behind leaking the question papers were rounded up following a rigorous investigation with the help of IT specialists.

As per the investigation, Brahmadev leaked the question papers to help his colleague pass the exam and also to make a quick buck by selling the papers.

“Brahmadev, who was deployed for safekeeping of the question papers, managed to steal the key of the room where question papers were kept. Then he took the photos of question papers and leaked them,” said DIG Shahi. Brahmadev roped in Manoj Yadav, Rajesh Yadav and Umesh Yadav to sell the leaked question papers, according to DIG Shahi. The group had sold photocopies of science and social studies question papers for Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,200 each.

“Brahmadev and Dipendra have pleaded guilty and will face departmental and other applicable action,” said DIG Shahi. According to Saptari police chief Rajendra Bista, other persons involved in the leakage of question papers will face action

as per the law.
