Copters drop rice supplies

In view of the famine haunting the hilly Bhojpur and Sankhu-wasabha districts of Koshi zone, the Nepal Food Corporation (NFC) zonal office, Biratnagar, sent the first lot of 100 quintals of rice there today by helicopter. NFC, Koshi zonal office, Biratnagar, confirmed this. Bedraj Wosti, Biratnagar NFC zonal office chief said rice was dropped at Khandbari, headquarters of Sankhuwasabha district. Thanks to the helicopter service, rice reached Bhojpur district, said Wosti, adding that rice supplies had not been sent to the district for the last five months due to security reasons. “By end of this month, we aim to send 1100 quintals of rice to Bhojpur by helicopter,” Wosti said.
