DHANUSHA, DECEMBER 17

Chief Minister of Madhes Province, Satish Kumar Singh, has underlined the need of harsh punishment to those involved in corruption. They deserve life imprisonment, he argued.

During a province level interaction on 'corruption control and good governance' organized by the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) in Janakpurdham on Monday, CM Singh viewed life imprisonment rather than 10-year jail would be appropriate for the corrupt persons.

Present law is insufficient to curb corruption, he said, arguing that it is favouring the politicos and employees for living luxurious life.

He also stressed increase in employee's salary because low salary was one of the reasons behind inciting employees to indulge in bribe and commission seeking. He was also for enforcing the right to information (RTI) effectively to build transparent system.

On the occasion, Commissioner at CIAA, Jay Bahadur Chand, however, said those complaining about the unidentified complaints were against good governance. If the unidentified complaints are stopped, it would fuel corruption, according to him.

Ministers in province, chief district officer Ramu Raj Kadariya, chief of district coordination committee, mayor of Janakpurdham Sub-metropolis, and chairs and vice chair of other local levels attended the programme.
