Corruption will not be tolerated, says minister
Kavre, June 23
Minister of Communications and Information Technology Gokul Baskota today said the government would leave no stone unturned to end corruption in the country.
Unveiling a statue of a martyr at Lajjawati Martyrs’ Park at Panauti Municipality-8 in Kavre, Minister Baskota said the government would adopt zero tolerance towards corruption. “The government may take any kind of harsh measures to crack down on corruption to ensure good governance in the country,” Baskota added.
“Corruption is deeply embedded in our social fabric and individual psyche. We will adopt any measure necessary to rid our society and the country of corruption,” Baskota stated, adding that corruption at all levels of bureaucracy was a bane for the people and the country.
A 19-year-old Sagun Tamrakar from the district was martyred in police firing during the people’s movement in 2006.
Minister Baskota acknowledged Kavre’s contribution to the 2006 people’s movement.
