BIRGUNJ, JUNE 25

Narayani Hospital is all set to build a 66-bed dedicated COVID hospital in Birgunj for which the provincial government recently allocated 30 million rupees.

Narayani Hospital is the largest government hospital in the province.

According to Narayani Hospital medical superintendent Dr Birendra Bahadur Pradhan, construction of a separate structure in the empty space behind the existing hospital building has begun.

"As per our plan to complete the construction of a 3-story building by next year, its construction has started from this year itself," he said, adding that the special hospital would begin its service with 66 beds initially but soon it would be expanded to 300- bed hospital.

Highlighting the need of a dedicated COVID hospital, Pradan noted that COVID patients from many other districts, such as Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi and Mahottari also come to Birgunj for treatment.

"As COVID patients from Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi to Mahottari also come to Birgunj for treatment, we needed a dedicated hospital here," Pradhan said.
