CPN-Maoist Centre claims mayoral post of Kathariya Municipality in Rautahat
RAUTAHAT: CPN-Maoist Centre candidate has been elected as the Mayor of Kathariya Municipality in Rautahat, District Election Office said.
CPN-Maoist Centre leader Siyaram Kushawa won the elections as he collected 4233 votes while his closest Nepali Congress candidate Ajaya Prakash Sah bagged 3682 votes. Kushawa edged Sah by 551 votes to clinch the mayoral post in the Municipality.
Meanwhile, the District Election Office said that results of 17 local bodies out of 16 Municipalities and 2 Rural Municipalites results have been announced.
Nepali Congress is leading with 8 seats followed by Federal Socialist Forum Nepal and CPN-Maoist Centre has bagged 3 seats each.
Rastriya Janata Party Nepal has clinced 2 seats while Nepal Democratic Fourm has won 1 seat in the district, according to the District Election Office.
However, UML has to satisfy with deputy mayor and ward chiefs in the district as it has failed to win the mayor or Rural Municipalities Chairman.
It has been learned that the UML's failure in the Rauthat district have been attributed to its activities against Madhes.
