SIRAHA, NOVEMBER 22

CPN-MC standing committee member Girirajmani Pokharel said the country was sure to end up as an autocracy if KP Sharma Oli had remained in the government for five years.

Inaugurating the party's ward 12 conference in Gol Bazaar Municipality-, Siraha today, the Maoist leader said, "It won't be a surprise to see the country slipping into autocracy if KP Sharma Oli remains at the helm for five years continuously. Anyone can see the proof in what he did when he was in the government earlier."

"His act of dissolving the parliament, that too twice, was clearly the start of his attempt to set the country on a regressive course and push it into autocracy again. Fortunately, we were able to foil his dirty design,"

Pokharel said, adding that restoration of the parliament had brought politics back on track.

The former minister also described the UML chairperson as a man with a big gap between his words and actions. "He says something but does something else."

Pokharel rued the UML's act of taking the Parliament hostage.

"It was KP Oli who tried to kill the Parliament earlier. Now he's held it hostage because he says 'it isn't running as per parliamentary norms', which is ridiculous," he said. "As a result, the law making process has been affected."
