HETAUNDA: The cadres of Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist reportedly detained Ram Kumar Upreti, who is a ward chairman candidate from the ruling CPN Maoist Centre in Manahari Rural Municipality-1, from Handikhola on Saturday morning.

After receiving the information about the incident, the Makawanpur District Police Office sent a team of security personnel to Manahari to rescue Upreti.

The Chand-led Maoist outfit said it took Upreti in its control to protest the arrest of and mental torture on its cadres and sympathisers in the district by police.
