UML directs lawmakers to support impeachment motion

KATHMANDU: The main opposition CPN-UML today has directed all of its lawmakers to sign the impeachment motion against suspended Chief Commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Lok Man Singh Karki.

In the parliamentary party meeting of the UML held at New Baneshwar today, the UML underlined the importance and meaning of the impeachment motion.

According to party chief whip Bhanubhakta Dhakal, the meeting has also directed all its lawmakers to be present in the House meeting on Sunday, October 23.

Lawmaker Pemba Lama told THT Online that top leaders of the party urged the MPs to stand firm for the motion.

The motion against CIAA Chief Karki was signed by 107 lawmakers of the CPN-UML on Wednesday. The party is second largest in the House with a strength of 182 lawmakers.

Present in the meeting were chair KP Sharma Oli, senior leaders Jhala Nath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal among others.
