CPN-UML finalises election candidates in Khotang

The CPN-UML has finalised its candidates for all local levels in Khotang for the second phase of local level elections due on June 14.

While the party had unanimously picked candidates for some rural municipalities and wards, a meeting of the provincial committee secretariat picked candidates in case of municipalities and other rural municipalities.

As per the party sources, Dip Narayan Rijal and Binadevi Rai have been picked as the party’s mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates for Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality. Similarly, for Tuwachung Municipality, Khadendra Rai and Manisa Rai have been picked as candidates for the post of mayor and deputy mayor respectively.

As for the rural municipalities, Lila Bahadur Niraula and Samala Rai, Griha Bahadur Rai and Puspakala Bhujel, Krishna Rai and Hira Kumari Ban, Arjun Roka and Ambika Rai, Pradip Rai and Kabita Rai, and Ganesh Koirala and Goma Magar have been picked for the post of chairpersons and vice chairpersons for Lamidanda, Eselukharka, Kepilasagadhi, Diprung, Khotehang and Baraha Pokhari rural municipalities respectively.

Likewise, while Shankar Rai and Bimala Rai have been selected as candidates for the post of chairperson and vice chairperson from Jantedhunga rural municipality, from Sakela Rural Municipality, Badri Rai and Menuka Dhakal have been selected for the top two posts. Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress has yet to finalise the names of its candidates.
