UML leading as vote counting continues in Bharatpur Metropolis

CHITWAN: CPN-UML mayoral candidate Devi Prasad Gyawali for Bharatpur Metropolitan City of Chitwan district was leading with 2,502 votes while CPN Maoist Centre's Renu Dahal was in the second position with 1,658 votes, followed by Rastriya Prajatantra Party's (RPP) Badri Timilsina with 168 till Wednesday morning.

Similarly, Nepali Congress deputy mayoral candidate Parbati Shah was leading with 2,066 votes while UML's Divya Sharma Acharya was in the second position with 2,044 votes, followed by RPP's Rina Gurung with 201 votes.

Meanwhile, the counting of the votes is underway in ward no. 2 of the metropolis. The ward has counted up to 1, 911 votes.

Nepali Congress candidates Jayaram Shrestha has been elected ward chairperson while three others are elected members of the ward no. 1 in the metropolis. Likewise, a UML member has been elected as an independent member in the ward.

There are 29 wards in the metropolis where 112,700 votes were cast in the local level elections.
