UML wins in three local levels in Province 1

As per the latest results of the second phase of civic polls, the CPN-UML is leading with victory in three local levels in Province 1.
Of the total 137 local levels, the UML has secured victory in five places, while NC and CPN-Maoist Centre are trailing with victory in three and two local levels respectively.
UML’s Bijay Rai defeated CPN-MC’s Tham Bahadur Rai with eight votes to clinch the post of chair in Ram Prasad Rai Rural Municipality in Bhojpur. CPN-MC’s Samjhana Rai was elected to the vice-chair post. The entire UML panel was declared winner in Maiwakhola Rural Municipality of Taplejung. Rajan Thuklung and Kaishila Thuklung were nominated for the post of chair and vice-chair in the rural municipality. UML candidates Shankar Rai and Bimala Rai were elected as chair and vice-chair respectively in Jantedhunga Rural Municipality of Khotang. NC’s Bishwonath Niraula won post of chair in Aishelukharka Rural Municipality, while UML’s Pushpa Kala Bhujel won the vice-chair post.
Uddhab Singh Thapa and Kamala Maya Rai were elected chair and vice-chair respectively at Udayapur’s Taplipokhari Rural Municipality. UML’s Manoj Rai and Ratneswori Rai were elected as chair and vice-chair respectively in Khalsa Chhintang Sahidbhumi Rural Municipality in Dhankuta.
CPN-MC’s Sagar Kiranti was elected as chair of Mahakulung Rural Municipality, Solukhumbu. NC candidates Ram Bahadur Kulung and Lal Kumari Kulung won the posts of chair and vice-chair respectively in Salichong Rural Municipality. NC’s Nerbu Sherpa and Yadu Kumari Rai clinched the posts of chair and vice-chair respectively in Chichila Rural Municipality of the district.
