CPN-UML's Aryal elected mayor of Melamchi Municipality
MELAMCHI: Dambar Bahadur Aryal of CPN-UML has been elected mayor of Melamchi Municipality in Sindhupalchok district on Thursday.
Aryal defeated his rival candidate of Nepali Congress, Aaitaman Tamang, by a margin of 1645 votes. Aryal secured 8678 votes against 7033 votes of Tamang.
Likewise, Bhagawati Nepal of CPN-UML achieved victory in the deputy mayoral race with 9,117 votes. Her closest competitor Sabita Gurung of Nepali Congress had garnered 6,739 votes.
Furthermore, Rudra Prasad Dulal and Ram Bahadur Tamang of CPN-UML were elected chairpersons in ward 11 and 12 in the municipality respectively.
Meanwhile, Debendra Ghorsaine of CPN Moist Centre was elected chairperson in the ward 13 of the Municipality.
