Crime on the rise in Baglung district

Baglung, November 8:

Rural areas of Baglung has witnessed a rise in criminal activities in the past few months.

According to the District Police Office (DPO), the armed conflict and growing insecurity in the region have given rise to such a situation. Inspector of the Crime Investigation Branch of the DPO, Hom Bahadur Budha, said, “Police personnel cannot be effectively mobilised given the topography of the region. This has also aided the criminals.”

According to statistics available at the DPO, three cases of murder, three suicide and public offence cases, four cases of distributing fake citizenship certificates and one case each of terrorist acts, forgery and robbery have been filed till date in the DPO this year.

Budha further said a joint patrolling team of police and the Royal Nepalese Army has been mobilised in the district with a view to controlling crime.
