MORANG, NOVEMBER 19
Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Hikmat Kumar Karki, has said the Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) had been producing the skilled workforce required for the country.
The training provided by the CTEVT-affiliated institutes was instrumental to create skilled and competent human resources required for the country and abroad, he added, suggesting CTEVT diversifying its training programmes.
CM Karki said it during a meeting of the high-level taskforce formed for restructuring of CTEVT here Monday. The province-level interaction witnessed views from diverse sectors.
According to him, CTEVT could moot its restructuring with 50 years' vision and strong collaboration among three tiers of government. Religious tourism could be fostered in the province by bringing in tourists from neighbours. To this end, CTEVT can think of providing training to the necessary youths, Karki suggested.
On the occasion, Mayor of Biratnagar Metropolitan City, Nagesh Koirala, also suggested coordination with local levels for conducting training.
Koshi Province chief of Nepal Municipality Association, Dil Prasad Rai, and Mayor of Duhabi Municipality, Bed Narayan Gachchhadar, unlined the need for linking technical education to industry.
Member Secretary of CTEVT, engineer Mohan Bhattarai, said expansion of education could be based on expansion of industry.
Vice Chairman of Province Planning Commission, Dr Rajendra Adhikari, said time had come for decentralization of CTEVT to fit federal structure of the country.
The CTEVT restructuring high level taskforce coordinator Gita Paudel informed that they were collecting suggestions on upgrading CTEVT training in province.
