Rupandehi authorities enforce restrictions from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to maintain peace and security
BUTWAL, SEPTEMBER 8
The Rupandehi District Administration Office has imposed a curfew order in the Butwal–Bhairahawa area from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, citing escalating tensions during the nationwide Gen Z protest against corruption and the government's social media ban.
According to the notice signed by Chief District Officer (CDO) Tokraj Pandey, the order was enforced under Section 6(A) of the Local Administration Act, 2028, prohibiting any movement, gatherings, demonstrations, assemblies, or processions within designated areas.
Boundaries of curfew areas
Butwal: East up to Dhago Karkhana Petrol Pump bridge, west to Belbas Chowk, north to Chidiya Khola, and south to Mangalapur.
Bhairahawa: East to Rohini Khola bridge, west to Bethari bridge, north to Buddha Chowk, and south to Meudiha.
Additionally, a 100-meter stretch on both sides of the Butwal–Belhiya road section falls under curfew restrictions.
The administration urged citizens to remain indoors and warned that violators of the curfew would face legal action. CDO Pandey said the decision was necessary to safeguard public security and maintain order in light of growing unrest.
Curfew nationwide
Authorities have issued curfew orders in several parts of the country as protests intensified:
