CHITWAN: A person has been killed in an accident that took place on the bypass road which falls on the border of wards 10 and 12 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City.

The deceased has been identified as Shyam Chaudhary (18) of Gadhimai Municipality-3 of Bara district, currently residing in Bharatpur, according to District Police Office, Chitwan. It has been learnt that Chaudhary was working in Hakimchok of the metropolis at a furniture workshop.

The incident occurred when a truck (Na 7 Kha 1394), enroute from Aaptari to the central bus terminal, hit the bicycle Chaudhary was riding on. He was killed on the spot, said police.

Meanwhile, the truck driver has been taken under police custody and the vehicle has been impounded.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
