Dacoit lynched, villager hurt

Rautahat, October 14:

Villagers beat a dacoit to death while a local sustained a bullet injury in a clash that occurred between villagers and a gang of dacoits at Sangrampur VDC in Rautahat last night. According to the Rautahat District Police Office (DPO), the clash occurred when the villagers tried to resist the gang of 30 armed dacoits. Locals wielded homemade weapons when the dacoits tried to loot some houses. The identity of the dead dacoit is yet to be known.

A villager Rajendra Yadav was critically injured by a bullet fired by a dacoit, police said. Yadav, who received a bullet injury in his right leg, has been taken to Narayani Sub Regional Hospital, Birgunj. Earlier, dacoits had looted property worth over Rs 235,000 from three houses at the VDC, said Kuber Kathayat, DSP at the DPO.
