Dadeldhura campus remains closed for three months

Dadeldhura, December 22

Dadeldhura Multiple Campus located at the Dadeldhura headquarters Baghkhor has remained padlocked for the past three-and-a-half months. Free Students’ Union has padlocked the main gate to the campus, demanding that the terms of contract staff at the college be extended.

The agitation has halted classes. Students coming from different far-western districts are compelled to stay at home. Faculty members and other employees now spend time basking in the sun outside the main agate during working hours and return home.

The college runs classes of Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Business Studies and some Master’s level classes. Santosh Deuba, a student of the college, blamed the situation on the practice of appointing  teachers and other staffers on the ground of their political affiliation.

FSU President Jagat Air said they padlocked the campus as the campus chief extended the contract of some staffers who were close to him but snubbed others who had been working there for many years.

Students at the college are fretting over yearly exams which are just round the corner. A BBS first year student Namita Dhami from Baitadi complained that the course had not been completed yet.

Another student Lalita Dhami said that future of hundreds of students studying at the college had been uncertain due to the prolonged agitation. As many as 48 teachers and staffers are working at the college, at present.
