Damauli Hospital grapples with rising number of patients
Damauli, August 15
Damauli Hospital of Tanahun district has witnessed increasing number of patients due to health insurance policy.
“We have a 15-bed facility. But, to provide service to increasing number of patients, we have arranged as many as 42 beds. Providing services to rising number of patients has been arduous task given limited manpower,” said Nursing and Information Officer at the hospital Jamunadevi Sharma.
According to Sharma, increase in the number of patients has to do particularly with the health insurance policy scheme of the government and most of the patients visiting the hospital are insured. “We have somehow managed to provide health services by arranging additional beds. But, as the hospital has limited manpower, attending to the patients has been difficult. If the government upgraded the hospital, it would get more manpower, which would make service delivery easier,” she said.
Currently, the hospital has 32 beds except the ones allocated for dialysis. Up to 24 patients benefit from dialysis services at the hospital per day.
The hospitals runs both dialysis and parturition services seven days a week. The hospital also provides various services including dental, optical, family planning, vaccination and service for HIV/AIDS. Damauli Hospital Management Committee Chair Pradip Adhikari lamented that upgrading the hospital was difficult due to lack of land.
