ILAM: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is going to distribute electric metres free of cost to the Dalit community in Dang district.

At least 150 families have applied for the electric metres after NEA called application from the Dalit community who were not being able to afford the facility, owing to financial crisis.

"The programme has been launched for those who are willing to install electric metres, but unable to afford," said NEA Dang chief Sitaram Sigdel.

According to Sigdel, within the programme, Dalits are also provided with wire and metre-boxes along with the electric metres.

NEA Dang has informed that the project would be completed within the current fiscal year.
