Dang private schools closed indefinitely

Dang, July 10:

All private and boarding schools and higher secondary schools in Dang remained closed today due to the indefinite closure called by the district chapter of the Private and Boarding School Teachers’ Union Nepal (PBSTUN).

“Rather than meeting our demands, the authorities concerned kept issuing negative statements, forcing us to announce the indefinite closure,” stated a joint statement issued by chairman Dhruba Bikram Pandey and secretary Nimesh Lamsal of the Dang chapter of the union.

The Guardians’ Association said the closure deprived the students of their right to study

and urged the teachers not to close the schools.

Chairman of the district chapter of the Guardians’ Association Ajit Acharya urged the authorities concerned to address the genuine demands of the teachers.

The teachers’ demands include reinstatement of teachers recently sacked by a school and salary on par with government school teachers.
