DAO checks catch traders unawares

The District Administration Office, Sindhuli, has begun carrying out surprise checks at business firms and shops at the district headquarters, Sindhulimadhi.

Out of the 43 shops inspected so far, many had huge stocks of outdated food products, while many were using stones to weigh goods.

The inspection is being carried out according to the Consumer Protection Act and any trader found violating it will be punished as per the act, said chief district officer. The inspection team includes representatives from the office, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, municipality, the Royal Nepal Army and the police.
