A market monitoring team inspected market places in Damauli and its surroundings in Tanahun today.
The DAO took the initiative to carry out inspection after the consumers complained they were being fleeced. The shop owners had not kept the price list of materials and were selling goods at exorbitant prices. Consumers said shopkeepers had also been selling inedible products.
Ajaya Mistanya Shop in Damauli Bazaar was sealed by the monitoring team.
Assistant Chief District Officer Chitranggat Baral said the shop was sealed after the shop owner was found selling date-expired inedible products. He said the sub-standard goods were also destroyed.
The administration has inspected a dozen shops in the bazaar area. According to the DAO, the shop owners were given warning as they had not abided by the set standards and rules.
The members representing Byas Municipality, Food and Quality Control Office, Inland Revenue Office, Small and Cottage Industry Development Committee, among others, were in the team. The administration carried out inspection of markets to control increasing black-marketing and sale of substandard materials during the festive season.
