Daylong interaction for journalists

The Election Commission hosted an interaction for journalists in Rautahat today.

The daylong event was organised to brief journalists on the legal provisions of local bodies, electoral system and the journalists’ code of conduct for the upcoming third round of civic polls.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief District Officer Uddhav Bahadur Thapa urged people to cast votes without fear. “Apparently there has been no protest and challenge from any quarter, so the polls are likely to be peaceful. I urge the everyone to vote for their favourite candidates without any fear,” said the CDO.

EC section officer Rajendra Kadel, Press Council member Ishwori Ojha and District Election Officer Rajan Shreebastav acted as facilitators during today’s interaction.

Journalists from eight districts of Province 2, where the third round of local elections are scheduled to be held on September 18, had participated in the programme.

Meanwhile, journalists also took part in mock voting held in the wake of the interaction.
