KATHMANDU, MAY 27
The state-owned Dairy Development Corporation has paid Rs 120 million to dairy farmers as part of efforts to clear long-pending dues.
According to the corporation, around Rs 120 million has been disbursed over the past four months out of total outstanding liabilities of nearly Rs 580 million owed to farmers.
The Ministry of Agriculture stated that the DDC has been releasing around Rs 10 million daily following reform measures aimed at improving its financial and operational performance.
Despite the payments, the corporation still owes around Rs 460 million to dairy farmers.
Meanwhile, private dairy industries across the country are reported to owe nearly Rs 3 billion to farmers, reflecting the continuing payment crisis in the dairy sector.
