SARLAHI:The regular official works at the District Development Committee (DDC) has been halted for the third consecutive day today due to the staffers’ protest.
The DDC staffers have been on agitation demanding that the Ministry for Local Development immediately appoint Local Development Officer (LDO). The post has been lying vacant which has remained vacant for four months. The staffers began the padlocking saying for an indefinite period beginning Sunday.
Pushkarmani Ghimire, information officer at the DDC, said that the staffers had decided to close the office as the locals were frequently returned empty-handed by the office in the lack of the LDO. They also complained they had to work amid unnecessary pressure due to the absence of the LDO.
The ministry has not sent any employee in the post after Bishnu Raj Lamichhane, the then LDO, was transferred elsewhere.
The protest began after Binod Thakur, chief of District Technical Office, who was appointed as acting LDO, too remained absent frequently in the office.
