RAUTAHAT: Claiming that her husband died for want of treatment in prison, wife of deceased jailbird Shekh Mobarak launched a fast-unto death in front of the District Prison, Rautahat on Friday.

Mobarak, who was serving time for murder, had died on January 1.

His wife Sagira Khatun launched the protest demanding compensation and stern action against those responsible for her husband’s demise.

Earlier, Khatun had filed a complaint at the District Administration Office demanding fair probe into her husband’s death.

She had accepted the body only after Chief District Officer Nara Hari Baral assured her of action against the prison chief and compensation to the family.
