Decision to defer local level elections a blunder: Paudel

Damauli, June 17

Nepali Congress senior leader Ramchandra Paudel today said the government had committed a grave mistake by postponing local level elections scheduled for June 28 in Province 2.

Speaking at a programme organised to felicitate the newly elected local level representatives in Damauli, Tanahun today, Paudel said NC President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chairman of CPN-Maoist Centre Pushpa Kamal Dahal committed a blunder by postponing local level elections in Province 2.

“The Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal is unwilling to participate in the second round of civic polls even as the polls have been deferred in Province 2,” he said. Paudel also accused party President Deuba of arbitrarily taking the decision without holding any discussion in the party. He said the roles the newly elected representatives were significant.
