Deluge, landslides disrupt highways

Floods and landslides triggered by incessant rainfall have disrupted major highways across the country.

Flooding and landslides have blocked almost all road networks in Makawanpur. Hetauda-Sisneri-Kathmandu and Hetauda-Fakhel-Humane-Kathmandu road sections were disrupted by landslides at different places.

According to SP Mukesh Kumar Singh, passengers bound for Hetauda from Kathmandu have been stranded.

Landslide has obstructed Kanti Highway that joins Lalitpur with Hetauda. Landslide at Kogate of Bhimphedi Rural Municipality has blocked the highway. Big boulders and stones have blocked the highway, said Inspector Sagar Bikram Rana. Landslide has buried a car at Kalanki of Indrasarowar Rural Municipality along the Hetauda-Fakhel-Kathmandu road section. No human casualty has been reported.

BP Highway and Mid-Hill Highway have also been disrupted since yesterday. Landslides have disrupted the BP Highway at Khaniyakharka of Golanjor Rural Municipality in Sindhuli and Kamare of Sunkoshi Rural Municipality, said police.

A landslide has obstructed vehicular movement at Jawing khola of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality along the Prithvi Highway, in Dhading.
