Demand for Rajbiraj as Province 2 capital

Rajbiraj, December 30

Various stakeholders speaking of at a programme organised by Civil Networks, Saptari, today said that Rajbiraj should be made the capital of Province 2.

They said so arguing that Rajbiraj had every potential to be a provincial capital given its infrastructure and status of security and education, among other factors.

They stated that Rajbiraj was the birthplace of Ram Raja Prasad Singh who advocated for democracy, Gajendra Narayan Singh who fought for the rights of the Madhesi people and more than a dozen other people had lost their lives during various Madhes movements.

Founder chairman of Civil Networks, Saptari, Shukha Ram Yadav, CPN-UML central committee member Suman Raj Pyakurel, chairman of Nepal Muslim Society Hashim Ansari, Civil Public Concern Centre chairman Ram Kumar Yadav had put forth their views at the programme.
