Demo in Malangawa after thrashed NC leader dies

Sarlahi, March 17:

Locals and activists of the Nepali Congress today demonstrated in Malangawa, demanding action against the guilty involved in the killing of Thaga Raya (60) of Chainpurbasti in Aaurahi-9. Raya breathed his last while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu yesterday, a few days after he was thrashed by a gang.

The locals took the body of Raya around the streets of Malangawa, accusing the local administration of not taking action against the persons involved in beating up Raya. They also put Raya’s body at the main gate of Sarlahi District Police Office and shouted slogans against the local administration. Raya was the former vice-chairman of Aaurahi VDC and president of NC’s Aaurahi Chainpur booth committee.

According to NC’s district leader Satyadev Singh, Ram Kailash Raya and Govinda Raya of Chainpurbasti had thrashed him on the day of Holi festival.

The body was cremated after the police promised to immediately arrest the culprits.
