Pokhara, July 9

Speakers at a condolence gathering organised on the 13th day of the passage of democracy fighter Nawaraj Kunwar, lauded the contribution Kunwar made to the democratic movements in the country.

At the programme organised by the Nepali Congress in Pokhara today, Senior NC leader Ramchandra Paudel commended that late Kunwar had made significant contributions to the democratic movements and societal development because he subscribed to the NC’s ideals and values from his school days.

Shedding light on the life and times of Kunwar, another NC leader Nilkantha Sharma said that it was Kunwar who made sure that NC’s mouthpiece Tarun had smooth circulation among its leaders and cadres during the time when the NC was in trouble.

Present at the programme were parliamentarians Yagya Bahadur Thapa and Sharada Poudel, NC Kaski President Krishna KC among others who univocally argued that Kunwar’s contributions would be exemplary for one and all.

Kunwar died at the age of 88. His son, Ramji Kunwar, was a candidate for the post of mayor from the NC in Pokhara-Lekhnath Metropolitan City in the recently held second round of local level elections.
