KATHMANDU, JUNE 12

In a bid to address the Covid-19 crisis, Denmark has decided to provide medical equipment to Nepal and other four countries -- Iraq, northern Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark stated that it is providing the countries with protective and medical equipment.

Issuing a statement, the Danish Foreign Ministry said that respirators and other medical equipment would be sent to Iraq; respirators, medical equipment and protective equipment to Nepal, while Montenegro, Northern Macedonia and Serbia would be assisted with medical equipment and protective equipment.

The Government of Denmark made this decision on the basis of a recommendation from the inter-ministerial task force for coordination of civilian contributions in international health crises, and on a concrete assessment of health and foreign policy considerations.

The Ministry further shared, "as the equipment is partly high-tech and includes complicated machines, a close health professional and technical dialogue has been carried out with the recipient countries to ensure that the equipment can be used by both staff and that there are the right technical facilities."

"This dialogue has taken place efficiently and constructively, which is why it is expected that both equipment and protective equipment can contribute to the management of COVID-19 in the countries."

The Ministry of Defense of Denmark in coordination with the Danish Emergency Management Agency will arrange transportation of the materials to the respective countries.
