Deputy speaker invited to UK conference

Kathmandu, August 22

The British government today invited Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe to participate in the ‘Women MPs of the World Conference.

British Ambassador Richard Morris met Tumbahangphe to hand over the invitation from the Secretary of State for International Development and Minister for Women and Equalities Mordaunt, and Member of the Parliament for Camberwell and Peckham and Member of the House of Commons Harriet Harman.

The conference will be held in London on September 8.

According to the Parliament Secretariat, British Ambassador Morris expressed concern about the laws drafted by the government and also talked about the thematic committees of the Parliament at the meeting which was held in Singha Durbar. Tumbahangphe said both countries have historic diplomatic relations. “It is good to exchange parliamentary activities between both countries,” she said.
