DPR being readied for smart city

Rautahat, December 10

As part of the government plan to develop Rautahat’s Chandrapur Municipality as a smart city, work related to formulating a detailed project report has begun lately.

A consultant team comprising local stakeholders and leaders of the local civil society are holding discussions to prepare a report for the proposed smart city along the East-West highway.

Besides Chandrapur, Gaur is the next place in Rautahat of the 13 places selected for the smart city project by former Urban Development Minister Prabhu Sah.

According to Smart City Consultant Team representative Chandra Hada, three of the projects run under the Chandrapur Smart City project are worth 250 million rupees.

“A number of places such as Phulbari, Paurai, Bagamati, Sahid Smarak, Dabari, Simsar and Kotihom have been selected under the Smart City Project and work related to the DPR is under way,” said Hada, adding that the final touches will be given to the report following discussion with stakeholders.

“The smart city concept requires a number of infrastructure such as physical infrastructure, urban services, apart from green, social and security-related infrastructure,” said another member of the team, Engineer Laxman KC.

Chandrapur has a total population of 72,059.
