Deuba confident of local polls

BHAKTAPUR: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed his confidence that the local-level election announced for May 14 would be held on time.

Deuba speaking at a programme organised to mark the seventh death anniversary of NC's former president Girija Prasad Koirala at Lokanthali, Bhaktapur, the former Prime Minister urged party cadres to prepare for the local poll.

He claimed the country would indulge into a constitutional crisis if the election were not held in stipulated time and would put democracy in peril.

"There is no doubt over the plan of conducting the local poll. It is sure and certain," the NC president said.

"Conspiracies are being hatched to break the unity among the people of mountain, hill and Tarai," Deuba said, underlining the need of making the local poll election successful to overcome such plan.
