Kathmandu, May 6:

The alleged fund “misappropriation” case against Sher Bahadur Deuba is apparently gaining complex rings since Shree Hari Aryal, the lawyer representing him, ruled out any possibility of the former prime minister submitting the bail amount.

“Both of us share the same view. That is his political decision. Ditto the legal stance. That is because the commission is unconstitutional,” said Aryal. He was reacting to a query on what he would suggest Deuba in due course. Deuba has already made it clear that he would not be submitting the amount of Rs 3.86 million.

Dr Arzoo Deuba, the former PM’s wife, said the idea of refusing to submit the bail amount was his own and that she had no say in the matter.

Aryal, however, indicated at the possibility of Deuba being punished by the Royal Commission for Corruption Control if he does not cough up the amount. Aryal said the significance of the RCCC would come to an end if it does not punish Deuba for not depositing the bail amount.

“I am sure the Commission will punish Deuba,” he said.
