Development activities fail to pick up pace, disappoint Rautahat residents
- Mismanaged working system is to blame for poor public service delivery
Rautahat, January 4
Locals in Rautahat are disappointed with the slow pace of development even after the local bodies received their representatives months ago.
The district dwellers had expected many changes after the local government was formed with representatives chosen by the people. However, as things stand now, many rural municipalities and municipalities do not have their own buildings and have not been able to manage staffers.
“The local level will remain incomplete until provincial laws are formulated,” said Arun Sah, chairman of Bhagawati Rural Municipality.
He added that service seekers could not get their works done due to the lack of staff in almost all the municipalities of the district.
Daily work in offices such as education, health, forest, agriculture, livestock and woman development, among others, has been affected due to mismanaged working system.
Mayor of Gaur Municipality Ajaya Gupta said that they could not organise the municipal assembly meeting due to the provincial and parliamentary polls.
Similarly, Mayor Ram Snehi Yadav of Brindaban Municipality said that they could not carry out development activities due to the lack of staffers, among other reasons.
Locals complained that expected development activities had not take place at the local level. They added that the problems occurred due to the lack of information regarding duties and responsibilities of the representatives and staffers.
