Dhading VDC at risk of inundation
Dhading, September 29:
Around 2,500 households in Mahadevsthan VDC here are under threat of being swept away by the Khani river.
The river flows through Wards 2 and 3 of the VDC. A landslide on the river banks in Hattigoda has led to the formation of a lake in the VDC. Incessant rainfall in the area has made matters worse. Heavy rains triggered a landslide yesterday at Tencherangdando, altering the course of the river and creating a vast lake around the VDC, locals said.
The police administration has alerted locals of the danger and urged them to shift to safer places.
A local, Ravindra Chepang, said that if the lake bursts its banks, Wards 2, 4, 5 and 7 of Mahadevsthan VDC, Wards 1, 2 and 5 of Benighat VDC and Wards 2, 4 and 8 of Gajuri VDC would be affected.
