Dhangadhi airport ready for small planes

Dhangadhi, January 12:

Construction of 600 metres of runway at the Dhangadhi Airport was completed recently.

Speaking at a press conference here today, assistant manager of the Dhangadhi Airport Construction Project, Mani Govinda Shrestha, said 600 metres of runway was blacktopped in the second phase of construction and 1,200 metres were constructed in the first phase.

However, construction of the terminal building, plane parking, car parking and cargo complex that were planned in the second phase could not be constructed due to lack of funds, he said.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has provided Rs 4 crore to construct 600 metres of runway, Shrestha said, adding that a Fokkar plane having 105 seats can land at the airport as it has 1,800 metres of runway.

The Dhangadhi airport is planned to be developed as a regional airport.
