Dhangadhi all set to distribute ‘poor identity card’

DHANGADHI: Final preparations to provide identity cards to the marginalised community of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City have concluded, according to officials.

The cards will be distributed in all 19 wards in the city starting from Ward-1 on July 20.

“City staffers including ward secretaries have been oriented on dealing with issues that might surface while distributing the cards,” Chief at the sub-metropolis, Nripa Bahadur Wad said. “The municipality employees should not come under pressure from third parties.”

According to Administrative Officer Surendra Singh, 5,885 people living in poverty will get identity cards. The extremely poor will get a red card while relatively poor will get a yellow card and general poor will receive a blue card.

The erstwhile government led by NC Chair Deuba had taken the initiative to census people living below the poverty line.

At present, the identity cards are being issued to the surveyed people residing in eight districts of Province 7.
